I'm working with exactly the same issue. I prefer to install as few errata as
possible on production systems. RHN Satellite Server 5.1 supports extended
update support (EUS) which is a special channel that should provide security
updates for a given point version without updating to the next point version
(like 5.2).

Note that I have not tried this myself yet, but it seems promising. Read the
release notes for satellite 5.1 if you are interested:
