mach questions

I'm rebuilding some items for fc4t1 and I'm running into:

checking how to run the C++ preprocessor... /lib/cpp
configure: error: C++ preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails sanity check
error: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.96910 (%build)


Is this  a gcc4ism? Does the package need to be fixed for this?
