how do I update a redhat 9.0 system: msg#00114

Subject: how do I update a redhat 9.0 system 
My son has an older redhat 9.0 system that he would like to update to the 
latest rpms

how would he use yum to do this. Could he use up2date and point it at the 
correct servers?
