Re: What I'm up to: msg#00094linux.printing.gimp-print.devel
From: Robert L Krawitz <rlk@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Fri, 23 Jul 2004 20:39:46 -0400 I'm getting nervous about this. It's trickier than I first thought. Among other things, it causes problems with PPD file generation and Foomatic. I suppose this could be handled by keeping around all of the different Epson drivers, but that still wouldn't entirely solve the PPD file issues, and it would defeat some of the purpose. What I think I'll do is do the parameter syntax changes (which are fully compatible, and give us a lot more power), but the printer vs. driver stuff will wait for 5.1. I wound up checking in just the changes to the parameter syntax. The printers.xml file looks like this: <printer name="EPSON Stylus C43UX" driver="escp2-c43ux" manufacturer="Epson" model="43"> <parameter type="float" name="MagentaGamma">0.95</parameter> <parameter type="float" name="YellowGamma">0.9</parameter> <parameter type="float" name="Gamma">0.731</parameter> <parameter type="float" name="Density">1.0</parameter> </printer> -- Robert Krawitz <rlk@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Tall Clubs International -- http://www.tall.org/ or 1-888-IM-TALL-2 Member of the League for Programming Freedom -- mail lpf@xxxxxxxxxxxx Project lead for Gimp Print -- http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net "Linux doesn't dictate how I work, I dictate how Linux works." --Eric Crampton ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by BEA Weblogic Workshop FREE Java Enterprise J2EE developer tools!
