Ah, my fault for misinterpreting the scan.

It's a bit hard to tell - I don't know if it's my monitor or the original
image but I cannot make out any sign of horizontal lines. I would expect this
to be the result of clogged nozzles - they can be a right sod to get properly
clean with Epsons once they get gummed up and the "test" pattern is not
always a perfectly reliable test.

Last time I had this problem I bought a couple of "flusher" cartridges
(essentially cartridges filled with solvent rather than ink) and ran them
through - did a beautiful job. This was a stylus color 440 though - I've no
idea if they're available (or even feasible) for an R300. Keeping the inside
of the printer absolutely spotless is probably the best thing you can do for
quality, the trick is to do it without pouring industrial alcohol into
sensitive components.
