Subject: Backing up "virgin" HDD

Hi people

I'm going to buy myself an XBOX tomorrow and the first thing I'd like to do is backup the HDD.
I read somewhere that a "virgin" HDD backs up to 210MB (I think) whereas one that has seen a game or audio CD is much larger.

Can I just take the drive out, stick it in another PC, then either use DD or Ghost to make a backup image, or do I need to do the HDD swap stuff whilst it's on to unlock it whilst in the XBOX ?

Can anybody point me to a HOWTO if it's not as easy as removing it and DD/Ghost'ing.

Many thanks
Regards
Chris.

PS. Fantastic job guys, can't wait till my matrix gets here to try out Linux :)
