AW: RE How many would be interested in a XBOX Linux pressed DVD?: msg#00291linux.ports.xbox.devel
>Yes I understand they're a few things that do need work on before such a step was taken only just a >suggestion to fix the problem of incompatibility. >Just only query to Franz in which way would an Xbox Linux distribution be illegal for us to >distribute on DVD? I thought this was indeed a legitimate project that everyone here is working on. >Also from my understanding most if not all mod chips / bioses apart from the Linux Cromwell bios contain >Microsoft copyrighted code, but being a legitimate Xbox owner I can use of do whatever with that code for > whatever function I please (in Australia Anyway). I did not say, that distributing linux to a dvd is illegal. maybe some understood false. the question was, if the xbe security concept can be broken, if distributing on a DVD. and this is definitfly not possible. and, because of this, distribution on a dvd makes no sense, as it is cheaper and easyer to burn it to a DVD-RW the only "idea" where this makes sense, is to take (.. notice, this is illegal) Take any game, ..... put the default.xbe to the dvd. (from a valid functionable game) in this case, the xbe would be loaded, as the signature appeares "correct". and then you can try, to include corrupted data to the DVD, eg. texture, fonts.... and this lets you maybe collapse the xbox and produces a buffer-overflow. but .. this is illegal.
