macbook no longer boots

I can no longer boot linux on my macbook (!pro). (I'm using Ubuntu 6.06.)

I get to the refit menu. Select Linux. And then see

LILO 22.6.1 Loading Ubuntu
L 07 07 07 07 07 [snip] 07 07 07No bootable device -- insert boot disk
and press any key

Any suggestions?
