Re: RE: Off-Topic: Spam problems on this list.: msg#00109linux.ports.h2200
Hi all, The bottom line is that the methods used by hh.org to filter spam will _always_ be behind the methods used by spammers. Rather than complain that hh.org's filters aren't good enough, I strongly suggest that list members use their OWN spam filters, particularly keeping in mind the hh.org lists are public and designed that way for a reason. Banning by sender will _NOT_ work, due to forged credentials, and may result in a real member being improperly banned. Be assured that the admins of the lists @hh.org are well aware of the issue, and some effort goes into cleaning the lists for all. None of what I've said is new. Every time there is a new wave of spam someone sticks their neck out ... I've probably even done it myself. Searching the history of this list, and others, will reveal similiar information (*sigh* ... you don't think those writing spam software do the same thing?). Please don't discuss this ugly issue here (on a public mailing list), but rather post spam-related complaints & suggestions to h2200-owner@ or admin-lists@ (or even me). Marcus.
