If you have access to external command line (ssh over usbnet or serial console, for example) then sometimes restarting the gpe-dm process works (I think I have the name right) - this has happened to me once or twice and it worked. Also hasn't happened since - sometimes I think sunspots have more impact than we give them credit for... HTH, j.
