good news: not a brick.

not sure how you have 3 LEDs, I only have 2.

This is not an uncommon issue and is fairly easy to fix. The easiest way (and
most brutal) is to remove your battery and unplug the ipaq - let it sit for at
least 10 minutes (maybe more).
put your battery back in and IF the LEDs are off, hit the reset key. If they
aren't off, you need to take your battery out and let it sit a while longer.

the more complicated way, but perhaps nicer to your backup battery is to remove
your battery and close the cover, then while pressing the reset key, plug it in
to the charger (can't be done with the cradle, need a standalone cable). The
problem with this method is that you now have no battery in your ipaq and you
have to swap it in (usually possible on a suspend without needing a reset)

bricking (true bricking) is actually very hard to do from everything I have
read.
