So, how it is on my h4000: yes, after soft reset it doesn't work. It
works after hard reset, and on card insertion *and* removal (
Microsoft considers that a feature).

Well, few googled links:

Autorun installation

Q: What directory number do i need to create on a compact flash card for the
XScale
processor devices, if I want Autorun.exe to be called?

A: This is specific to PocketPC. Windows CE .NET does not have an "autorun"
feature.

Managing Applications on Storage Cards with Autorun.exe

Windows Mobile Autorun

Note the last article says they don't know how to disable autorun,
but I bet registry should have a setting for it, maybe somehow you
have it disabled?

And btw, I would be also interested in nice working, automated
bootloader from WinCE, and in seamless dualboot. Towards that goal,
I've reserved a wiki page:
http://www.handhelds.org/moin/moin.cgi/WinCePalmOsAsBootloader , so
feel free to dump your thought there ;-)

Well, that thread was quite old, and I didn't expect anything new from
it, but I read it thru too. Well, it always ends with that -
modifying a bootlogo and few strings in bootloader. And I even have a
theory why it is so: well, trying to hack my h4000 ROM was last thing
before I got an enlightment that I simply waste my time, and switched
to Linux. Guess, something like that happens to other people too, lol
;-) . So far, only XDA people are brave enough to boil in wince hacking,
http://xda-developers.com .
