Re: WinCE autorun. Anyone tried?: msg#00019linux.ports.h2200
Hello Icebird, Friday, August 4, 2006, 3:34:00 PM, you wrote: > Greets, All. > I liked Paul Sokolovsky's idea of utilising card autorun. > Was about trying to make haret autoexec upon a reset. > I made a 2577 folder where placed the linux files and Haret renamed to autorun.exe =>> no result > tried in Ipaq file store SD, CF. > It doesn't autoexec after a soft reset, after card insertion (tried > both) or after a soft reset. So, how it is on my h4000: yes, after soft reset it doesn't work. It works after hard reset, and on card insertion *and* removal ( Microsoft considers that a feature). > Anyone knows how to make that stuff work, since it's much easier, than > editing the rom. Well, few googled links: Autorun installation http://blogs.msdn.com/marcpe/archive/2005/06/17/430123.aspx http://msdn.microsoft.com/chats/transcripts/mobileembedded/embedded_032603.aspx Q: What directory number do i need to create on a compact flash card for the XScale processor devices, if I want Autorun.exe to be called? A: This is specific to PocketPC. Windows CE .NET does not have an "autorun" feature. Managing Applications on Storage Cards with Autorun.exe http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/guide_ppc/html/ppc_programming_pocket_pc_2002_balr.asp Windows Mobile Autorun http://www.informit.com/guides/content.asp?g=security&seqNum=91&rl=1 Note the last article says they don't know how to disable autorun, but I bet registry should have a setting for it, maybe somehow you have it disabled? And btw, I would be also interested in nice working, automated bootloader from WinCE, and in seamless dualboot. Towards that goal, I've reserved a wiki page: http://www.handhelds.org/moin/moin.cgi/WinCePalmOsAsBootloader , so feel free to dump your thought there ;-) > btw thanks to Marcus for links about rom editing. Well, that thread was quite old, and I didn't expect anything new from it, but I read it thru too. Well, it always ends with that - modifying a bootlogo and few strings in bootloader. And I even have a theory why it is so: well, trying to hack my h4000 ROM was last thing before I got an enlightment that I simply waste my time, and switched to Linux. Guess, something like that happens to other people too, lol ;-) . So far, only XDA people are brave enough to boil in wince hacking, http://xda-developers.com . -- Best regards, Paul mailto:pmiscml-Re5JQEeQqe8AvxtiuMwx3w@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx |
