WinCE autorun. Anyone tried?

Greets, All.
I liked Paul Sokolovsky's idea of utilising card autorun.
Was about trying to make haret autoexec upon a reset.
I made a 2577 folder where placed the linux files and Haret renamed to
autorun.exe => no result
tried in Ipaq file store SD, CF.
It doesn't autoexec after a soft reset, after card insertion (tried
both) or after a soft reset.
Anyone knows how to make that stuff work, since it's much easier, than
editing the rom.
btw thanks to Marcus for links about rom editing. I'll be after modding splash
screens soon =))  Yet still cannot work out if there is a way to
replace that damned welcome.exe.
