Subject: Finally booted GPE. First troubles (Noob questions& found bugz)

Greets all!
Finally managed to boot my iPAQ from an SD card.
Firstly - BIG thanks to Marcus: ramdisk rescue really rocks!

First small buggy I've spotted: ramdisk rescue failed to delete the tarball
after extraction.
Tried on both cards - CF and SD. Don't get the reason why, since it
writes startup.txt&other stuff to vfat perfectly later (?)
---

So I finally booted GPE (bootgpe-v0.8.4-rc3-h2200) and met the first it's bugs.
0). The most strange one: it refuses to mount vfat: just keeps writing
"invalid argument", if I try to mount manually.
That's very strange, since lsmod shows fat&vfat... Any ideas?
1). Record Memo doesn't work as suspected - crashes after starting
recording.
2). No battery status at all =(. "Device read error", yet it detects
the cable being plugged.
3). Suspending takes up to 10 seconds. Really annoys =(.
Yet it works ! =)
4). USB configuration never stores it's values: When you run usb
configuraton again the values are back at "Ethernet networking".
And while in Storage\CF/SD cardreader mode you cannot allow write
access. =(
The very interesting thing is, that it seems to remember the values
set here. After closing "usb configuration", suspending, rebooting it
appeared as mass storage in win.
5). Bluetooth works, but is there any possibility of making it work
with other bt services, than obex object push?
// Actually I laughed here a lot: The only thing that worked truly
buggy in wince, works perfectly on linux, yet nothing else is there
=)))
6). Has anyone already made a russian locale for familiar or knows how
to make one? That's a really needed thing, so if someone's up with it,
I'll help whenever I can.

And the very last question: how to compile soft and recompile
kernel for pda, since make, gcc and other tools are not present there?

Sorry, that I can't be of much help with linux - only some
bugtracking. I haven't booted my linux on home pc for nearly a year.
Too busy, damn it =(

Anyway, great job! I liked the sound of my friend's jaw hitting the
floor, when he saw Linux on my pda =)))

Oh, and the last question: DOES ANYONE KNOW A TOOL TO EDIT THE WINDOWS
ROM FILE? I really need it to test the tool I'm trying to make.
The CE setup is killing me (honestly, very frustrating) and I want to make a
bootloader,
that would replace welcome.exe that contains that stuff. I think it
would be nice, if upon a hard reset you coud choose whether to boot
linux, or WinCE, with your all programs restored (I'm thinking of
making it a backup\restore tool as well).
