Subject: Re: signature/barcode capture

YES, these functions can be done on a H2200 Series PDA. Here is what you
need....

BARCODES
--------
TWO THINGS: Hardware & Software

For HARDWARE Symbol and some other companies have a selection of barcode
scanners for PDAs:

-serial wands (you would have to plug a serial cable into the cradle port on
bottom of the PDA)
-SD Cards (These slide in and are JUST barley visible out of the top of the slot
with the sensor mounted directly on the card
-CompactFlash Cards (some of these have a cable to a wand and others are
designed like the SD Cards described above)

For SOFTWARE see the signature capture section BELOW.

SIGNATURE CAPTURE
-----------------
ONE THING: Software

-The software needs Mouse (OR a BETTER term: Point Device) signature capture)
This is VERY important because there is software out there to get sigs. from
the remote sig. terminals like at the local grocery store which WON'T accept a
sig. from the "Pointing Device" aka. Touch Screen.

-The only thing you need here is software that does the business functions that
you want (ie. a package that does work orders so that when your done an order
it should have a signature capture function for verifcation)

-For Sig. Cap. your need to hunt down OR create the software that actually does
the actual business function you want and MAKE SURE it has sig. cap. as a
feature.

Hope this all helps.

Let the list know what kind of sig. accepting software you find in case someone
else needs something.

Let me know if you need more assistance.
