Yes, I'd pretty much sorted things out the same way. What I couldn't figure out is *why* those macros were in nm-i386.h and nm-linux.h in the first place. Especially when they were already correctly defined in gdb/target.h. So, my version of a fix was to undef target_{remove,insert}_{,hw}_{watch,break}point right after the inclusion of defs.h in breakpoint.c. That's where the overrides were disabling remote operations, and I wasn't sure if doing away with them altogether would break something elsewhere.
