This message is strange ...
maybe you try again with a partial file xy.osm:
./geoinfo.pl --osm=xy.osm
or you use a selection out of the complete planet.osm.gz(~95MB) by telling
geoinfo.pl (only svn Version 1176 or higher) to only use a specific area. If
you want other areas than already existing you'll have to expand
scripts/perl_lib/Geo/Filter/Area.pm
You either change this File at
http://svn.openstreetmap.org/utils/perl/Geo/Filter/Area.pm
or send me the additions and I'll check them into the svn repository.
