I have an old IBM ThinkPad 600E and a serial Earthmate sitting around.
So, I decide to rebuild the ThinkPad with Fedora Core 3 Linux and
compile the latest GpsDrive 2.09. The Earthmate is a working unit and
it has been using on another ThinkPad running Windows.
The installation of Fedora Core 3 and compilation of GpsDrive 2.09 went
fine. I am able to run GpsDrive. However, when I start GPSD within
GpsDrive, I got the following error messages.
No GPS used
Timeout getting data from GPS-receiver!
The Earthmate is not NMEA-capable and I can see that GPSD daemon is
running with -T e option. Here is what is running.
gpsd -p /dev/ttyS0 -s 9600 -T e
When I telnet to port 2947 and hit R, I do not see anything. I have
tried using baud rate 4800 but no success. I have also tested with
/dev/ttyS1 to /dev/ttyS7 and none of the port works.
Can anyone point me to the right direction on how to fix the problem I have?
Thanks in advance.
Chi.
