Yes this sounds like a need feature. I think it shouldn't be too difficult to 
programm. You simply have to add another edit field to the second dialog 
which holds the scale. As i already pointed out yesterday, I already tried to 
separate everything needed for map-import into the source file 
src/import_map.c this should help you find the needed source code for this 
change. I'll be really happy to review another path for this part of gpsdrive 
and import it into the CVS.
