If you have the serial converter the device would be connected to a physical
port on your motherboard, or expansion card. You will need to find out which
device node corresponds with the physical serial port the earthmate is
connected to... typically /dev/ttyS{0,1,2,etc}. Try cat /dev/ttyS{0,1,2,etc}
to see if it works, replace the braced numers with a single digit...
If you would like to use it in usb mode, please find out whether your kernel
comes with the cypress_m8 module. This started happening in the 2.6.10 linux
kernel series I believe. Try installing kernel sources for your distribution
if this is greater than or equal to the above listed version. You'll need to
select the module to compilete. This is under USB Support->USB Serial
Converter Support->USB Cypress M8. Then recompile the kernel, install, and
test on the appropriate device node.
