"Slackware-current" - very customized (many packages rebuilt with athlon-xp
optimizations, etc.)

Usually on or near the most current "release" or "release candidate" kernel
(currently 2.6.11rc3)

KDE pre3.4 from CVS (updated regulary and compiled from source)
atop X.org with previous S3-Savage-3D driver from DRI CVS (there is apparently
a new iteration of the Savage driver now - time to recompile...)

MySQL 4.0.23a (I keep trying the 4.1 series in hopes of playing with the GIS
data types for possible GPSDrive plugins, but there's a bug somewhere when
using MySQL 4.1.x that kills the MySQL access as soon as GPSDrive updates a
row in the table e.g. from Kismet data[1])

> What is your hardware
"Averatec 1530H" laptop (AMD Athlon-XPM "1600+" (1400Mhz)) with 384MB RAM
and 4200RPM 30GB drive (approx 1/3 still eaten up by the dusty Windows
partition that I haven't used but haven't gotten around to removing...)

Formerly Deluo USB GPS "mouse" (which fell to the floor and broke after over a
year of heavy use[2]).
Currently Garmin ETrex Legend.

Both via gpsd (for kismet and external map generation related scripts I've
written to use while GPSDrive is also running).

Accidental disconnection from Kismet (e.g. if Kismet craps out) still seems to
lock GPSDrive. Not sure that's related to my particular combination of
components or just an unresolved general bug.

Currently running the last "pre" release from the GPSDrive website - with
modifications to support my current funky waypoints table layout and limit
the size of the waypoints list returned for GPSDrive's queries (the latter
has apparently been implemented - probably in a much better fashion - in
GPSDrive CVS currently - I still need to try it out. Time to wipe my
waypoints table and start again from a "standard" table layout...)

Probably a more verbose answer than you were looking for, but there it is...

[1] - I'm no authority or anything, but I'm beginning to suspect this is
actually either an outright bug or just an unknown incompatibility on the
MySQL side, rather than a GPSDrive bug, but I'm not sure. SELECTs seem to
work fine on 4.1, it seems to be when GPSDrive goes to INSERT or UPDATE that
the MySQL 4.1 connection goes out (causing the "select(): Bad File Descriptor"
message). Need to contact the MySQL people and ask...

[2] - Deluo seems to also offer "just the guts" for their two or three models
of GPS "mice" for a little more than 1/2 the price of a new one - I've been
meaning to order replacement "guts" and get my "GPS Mouse" working again as
well...
