Running a DB on embedded hardware isn't an issue if you choose the right one
and design the database properly. Most slowness issues I've had with
databases were due to poor indexing of the needed fields. Indexed them and
boom, the db seems to speed up 1000x fold...
Agreed - optimization is where it's at - especially on "small" hardware.
Running two DBs is still redundant though.
