FATX formatting

Hi,
   Under Gentoo-XBox is there a special command to format a new disk
partition with FATX? I don't find FATX under man mount or with any
other simple commands.

   I do se a mkfs.cramfs. Is that part of the solution? I think not
from the help info but I'm not sure.

   If it matters I built the machine with the 2.6.11.7 kernel.
