[003] - ATA over Ethernet driver 56 (For Linux 2.6)
by Ed Cashin at Coraid (http://freshmeat.net/users/ecashinCoraid/)
Fri, Dec 14th 2007 10:41

System :: Archiving :: Backup
System :: Archiving :: Mirroring
System :: Operating System Kernels :: Linux

About: This driver allows the Linux kernel to use the ATA over Ethernet
(AoE) network protocol. Using AoE, a Linux system can use AoE block
devices like EtherDrive (R) storage blades. The block devices appear as
local device nodes (e.g. /dev/etherd/e0.0).

Changes: Dynamic minor numbers for devices expand the range of usable AoE
addresses. The latest Linux kernels are now supported. A bug that
manifested when AoE targets were not behaving correctly was fixed.
Specific devices can now be forgotten on demand. A module parameter for
GPFS users was added.

System
System :: Archiving :: Backup

About: The ATA over Ethernet Tools are intended for use in conjunction
with an ATA over Ethernet (AoE) driver for a Linux 2.6 kernel. They
perform simple tasks like listing available devices, triggering device
discovery, and restricting the network interfaces on which AoE is
performed.

Changes: Support for dynamic minor device numbers was added. A new tool,
"aoe-version", displays version info for AoE-related software. A new
aoetools man page provides an overview of all the tools. The new aoecfg
program fully implements the config-string section of the AoE protocol.
The aoe-flush command can now operate on specific devices.

Fri, Dec 14th 2007 14:00

Database :: API
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content

About: aurora framework is a slim modular MVC framework written in PHP
5.2+ for rapid development of Web or console applications featuring an
integrated database API, template logic, pretty URLs,
internationalization, caching, data models, and a multi-layered file tree.

Changes: This release includes finer configuration of auth-cookie and the
database connector. It adds support for caching through APC, and better
support for static HTML files. It fixes two irritating bugs. The first bug
kept one from emptying a text field in a model, and the second consisted of
missing UTF-8 support within some text filters.

[008] - Coccinella 0.96.4
by Mats Bengtsson (http://freshmeat.net/users/matben/)
Fri, Dec 14th 2007 13:54

Communications :: Conferencing
Communications :: File Sharing

About: Coccinella is a Jabber client with a whiteboard. The whiteboard is

[009] - COllaborative DEvelopment SHell 1.0.0
by Trump Coup (http://freshmeat.net/users/bourilkov/)
Fri, Dec 14th 2007 15:39

About: The CODESH (COllaborative DEvelopment SHell) project provides an
automatic persistent logbook for sessions of personal command line work by
recording what and how is being done, for private use/reuse and for sharing
selected parts with collaborators. It is an intelligent shell that
automatically logs user's command line (shell) sessions: commands, scripts
executed, output produced, changes to environment variables, alias
creation, and other information needed to recreate the sessions later.
Sessions are uniquely tagged and stored in local or distributed backend
repositories (flat file - ASCII - or CVS based) and can be extracted and
reproduced at any time by the user who created the session or by
collaborators located anywhere in the world.

Changes: This version introduces a new persistent backend for virtual
sessions, based on Subversion, and corresponding new module codeshbsvn.py.
Now the user has an expanded choice between: a Subversion backend; a CVS
backend; a flat file (ASCII) backend, thus avoiding Subversion or CVS
dependencies; or no backend at all. The standard
create-codeshsvnrepository.sh script can be used to create repositories on
local or remote hosts. Access to remote svnserve repositories can be svn
user based (no user shell accounts on the server) or over SSH.

[010] - Crossroads Load Balancer 1.63
by Karel Kubat (http://freshmeat.net/users/karelk/)
Fri, Dec 14th 2007 13:43

System :: Clustering/Distributed Networks
System :: Networking

About: Crossroads is an OSI layer 5-7 load balance and failover utility
for TCP-based services. It is a daemon program running in userspace and
features extensive configurability, polling of backends using "wakeup
calls", highly configurable dispatch modes of client requests to back
ends, detailed status reporting, "hooks" for special actions when backend
calls fail, support for "sticky" HTTP sessions, and more. It is
service-independent; it is usable for HTTP(S), SSH, SMTP, DNS, MySQL, etc.
Services are defined in a configuration file, and a Web front end can be
used for monitoring.

Changes: This release has a number of bugfixes in allow/deny handling.
Time format specifiers support an offset, which makes it possible to
inject HTTP headers with a future timestamp (e.g., for expiry). The flag
-p is introduced to conform with LSB standards.

[016] - libev 1.85
by Marc A. Lehmann (http://freshmeat.net/users/pcg1/)
Fri, Dec 14th 2007 14:02

Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks
Software Development :: Libraries :: Perl Modules
System :: Networking

About: Libev is a high-performance event loop for C (with optional and
separate interfaces for C++ and Perl), featuring support for I/O, timers
(relative and absolute, cron-like ones), signals, process status changes,
and other types of events. It has both a fast native API and libevent
emulation to support programs written using the libevent API. The libev
distribution consists of libevent with the core event handling parts
replaced by the libev embedded event loop. Differences to libevent include
higher speed, simpler design, more features, less memory usage,
embedability, and no arbitrary limits. libev supports epoll, kqueue,
Solaris event ports, poll, and select.

Changes: The biggest change is that a formal release tarball for libev
only is now available. The customary libevent+libev tarball is still
available. A timer heap bug has been fixed that could rarely cause
watchers to be delayed. The epoll backend has been optimised further to
heuristically avoid syscalls for the most common usage patterns. The C++
callbacks have been incompatibly changed to have the same memory (and
performance characteristics) as C callbacks.

[021] - MiniUPnP Client and Daemon 1.0-RC12
by nanard (http://freshmeat.net/users/nanard0/)
Fri, Dec 14th 2007 13:14

Software Development :: Libraries
System :: Networking :: Firewalls

About: The MiniUPnP project is a library and a daemon. The library is
aimed to enable applications to use the capabilities of a UPnP Internet
Gateway Device present on the network to forward ports. The daemon adds
the UPnP Internet Gateway Device functionality to a NAT gateway running
