About: Barcode Writer in Pure Postscript implements the printing of many
barcode formats entirely within level 2 PostScript, so that the process of
converting the input string into the printed output is performed by the
printer itself. This avoids the need to re-implement the barcode
generation process whenever your language needs change. The project
supports most major barcode formats including EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E,
ISBN, Code 128 (A, B, and C), Code 39, Interleaved 2 of 5, Postnet, Code 2
of 5, and Codabar.

Changes: Human-readable text support was added to RSS-14, RSS Limited,
OneCode, and Pharmacode symbologies. The default font and spacing for
specifically aligned text was changed to make it more consistent with

About: Bonnie++ is based on the Bonnie hard drive benchmark by Tim Bray.
The most notable features that have been added are support for >2G of
storage and testing operations involving thousands of files in a
directory. This program is used by ReiserFS developers, but can be useful
for anyone who wants to know how fast their hard drive or file system is.
It now includes ZCAV in the package. This program tests the performance of
different zones on the hard drive. ZCAV has been released separately before
but will now only be released as part of the Bonnie++ suite. 

Changes: This release adds support for testing write speed to zcav. It
documents the default chunk size in bonnie++.8. It improves error handling
for chunk size in zcav.

About: Ezstream is a command line source client for the Icecast media
streaming server. It can stream Ogg Vorbis and MP3 audio, as well as Ogg
Theora video, either "as-is" without reencoding (which uses only very
little CPU time) or it can use external decoders and encoders to convert
virtually any media format into one of the supported streaming formats.
Ezstream supports metadata, streaming from standard input, playlists, and
external playlist scripts or programs, and more. 

Changes: A (very) long-running ezstream process sometimes terminated
without error message, making no attempts to reconnect to the server. This
has been fixed in this release by catching and ignoring the SIGPIPE signal.

About: Freedup eliminates duplicate files by linking them, and thus
reduces the amount of used disk space within one or more file systems. By
default, hardlinks are used on a single device, symbolic links when the
devices differ. A set of options allows you to modify the methods of file
comparison, the hash functions, the linking behavior, and the reporting
style. You may use batch or interactive mode. Freedup usually only
considers identical files, but when comparing audio or graphics files, you
may elect to ignore the tags.

Changes: In this release minor bugfixes concerning compilation under
cygwin (and other environments) are implemented. The new feature of
ignoring audio and graphics tags now also supports ignoring the MP4 tags
of files that have a suffix "mov", which usually means the first tag of
type "moov". There are no changes to the support of MP2, MP3, Ogg, MPC,
JPEG, or other formats.

About: Fresh Memory is an educational tool for studying foreign words or
terms from a specific domain. The application manages a set of
dictionaries, which can be loaded, created, modified, and saved. The user
can take several types of tests on basis of the loaded dictionary. The
main tests are flash cards and multiple choice test. These tests will help
to memorize new words or refresh old ones. The application works with
Unicode characters (UTF-8) and therefore is not restricted to Latin
letters. 

Changes: The dictionary file format was changed for an XML-based one
(FMD). The ability to import from and export to CSV file formats was
added. A new "Example" field was added to cards. A "Show answers" checkbox
was added to the flashcards test. Window state is saved for both main and
test views. The "Add regexp" button was added to the find dialog. The
--help and -h command-line options were added. A dictionary filename is
accepted as a command-line argument.

About: The Geospatial Data Abstraction Library (GDAL) is a unifying C/C++
API for accessing raster geospatial data, and currently includes formats
like GeoTIFF, Erdas Imagine, Arc/Info Binary, CEOS, DTED, GXF, and SDTS.
It is intended to provide efficient access, suitable for use in viewer
applications, and also attempts to preserve coordinate systems and
metadata. Python, C, and C++ interfaces are available.

Changes: This is a bugfix release and adds no significant new features.
This release replaces the GDAL/OGR 1.4.3 release, which was retracted
because it included an unexpected ABI (Application Binary Interface)
change from the earlier 1.4.x releases. This ABI change means that
applications using the GDAL/OGR C++ interface, and GDAL/OGR driver plugins
built against GDAL/OGR 1.4.0, 1.4.1, or 1.4.2 could not be safely used with
GDAL/OGR 1.4.3.

About: Tellmatic is a tool to manage and create newsletters for
personalized mailing or mass mailing. Addresses and newsletters are stored
in groups to handle different user groups and thousands of addresses at a
time. SMTP is used for sending the newsletter to your subscribers to make
sure you get all error and bounce messages. Bounces can be handled
automagically via a small bounce-management module with POP3 access. It
also has a small form-editor and statistics. You can import and export
your addresses in CSV format. 

Changes: The side effect that sent a copy of each message to the admin
when bcc is used has been removed. This release sets rcptto: limit for
smtp to 1 before waiting for OK. It removes problems when tarpiting is
used on the mail server.

About: Twin is a text-mode window environment. It turns a text terminal
into a X11-style display with window manager, terminal windows, and can
also serve as display for remote applications. Each terminal window
provides the functions of a text-mode Linux console. Twin runs on X11,
libggi, itself, the Linux console, and any termcap/ncurses-compatible tty.
It supports multiple simultaneous displays, and can attach/detach each
display on the fly. 

Changes: This release fixeds build errors using gcc 4.0, 4.1, and 4.2. It
also fixes a problem related to VT-switch in the raw keyboard driver for
the Linux console. Several 64-bit achitecture issues were fixed, including
a bug causing twin server to hang in a busy loop for several seconds. Dead
keys and compose key are now supported by --hw=X11 and --hw=gfx drivers.
twsysmon was updated to show the improved CPU and disk usage statistics
found in Linux kernel 2.6.
