[021] - LibLZF 3.1
by Marc A. Lehmann (http://freshmeat.net/users/pcg1/)
Fri, Nov 30th 2007 07:06

Software Development :: Libraries

About: LibLZF is a very small, self-contained library that can be
incorporated into applications where data compression would be nice but
speed is more important. It can be used to add data compression in a
painless way to any program. Likewise, a small and self-contained perl
interface is available via CPAN (Compress::LZF).

Changes: The license has been changed to a two-clause BSD license with the
option to switch to GPL version 2 or any later version. The compression
speed has been increased considerably, and the user can now chose between
roughly the same speed as fastlz with a better compression ratio, or a
faster speed than fastlz at a slightly worse compression ratio. The lzf
utility has been improved to act much more like other similar utilities
(e.g. gzip).

[032] - PHD Help Desk 1.32
by J. Tuozzo (http://freshmeat.net/users/jtuozzo/)
Fri, Nov 30th 2007 01:08

Information Management :: Issue Tracking

About: PHD Help Desk is software conceived for the registry and follow-up
of help desks incidents. Registry of incidents allows classification in
two levels (type and subtype), the state of the incident, a description,
ticket assignment and priority, historical registry, and an audit.
Information can be reported in consultation format, to give reports or
export the information for later processing in a database or spreadsheet.

Changes: Now it's possible attach a file in the users support request web
form. Minors changes were made. In the code for modifying a ticket, an SQL
statement that was incompatible with MySQL 3.23 was fixed. When you had one
ticket opened for modification in one window and then you modified another
ticket in another window, the change would incorrectly modify the first
ticket although it would show information about the second ticket. PHD now
warns you about this situation and prevents the change. All scripts now
correctly start with "<?PHP".

[047] - Sylbi 0.02
by arbingersys (http://freshmeat.net/users/arbingersys/)
Fri, Nov 30th 2007 16:09

About: Sylbi is a conversation system that is not a forum and not a
blogging platform, but a combination of the two. It grew from the idea
that a blog with comments and a forum only differ in their perspective of
the conversation. Both provide a chronological set of postings, initiated
by someone, and, (potentially) replied to by others. The main difference
is the perspective they present: a blog presents the perspective of the
blog owner(s), while a forum presents the perspective of the forum and a
topic defined in the forum. Sylbi allows you to look at conversations
either way.

Changes: This release fixed a bug in conversation recategorization. It
adds tracing via 'carp' that can be enabled/disabled by the user.

[048] - Synbak 1.0.12
by Ugo Viti (http://freshmeat.net/users/ugoviti/)
Fri, Nov 30th 2007 01:10

About: Synbak is an application designed to unify several backup methods.
It provides a powerful reporting system and a very simple interface for
configuration files. It can make backups using rsync (via crypted ssh,
rsync, SMB, and CIFS protocols), tar (tar, tar.gz, and tar.bz2) archives,
tape (even using multi-loader changer tapes), MySQL databases, Oracle
database, LDAP directories, CDR/CD-RW/DVR/DVD-RW, and more. It can
generate final reports via email, HTML pages, and RSS feeds. Developers
can easily write new backup methods, reports, and translations.

Changes: The MySQL method was almost completely rewritten with a lot of
useful features. Now you can use the -M switch to make split database
dumps (with each database in a separate dump file). The Italian
translation was corrected. Volume tag (barcode) reporting was added for
tape media changers that support this. A text string was added to exclude
databases from Oracle's backups. The CIFS umount function was fixed.
Cleanups were done in the calendar PHP extension. Updates were made to the
FAQ file.
