[001] - AgileWiki 3.3.1.1
by Bill la Forge (http://freshmeat.net/users/laforge49/)
Sun, Aug 27th 2006 03:48

Database
Documentation
Information Management

About: AgileWiki is a Java-based wiki that provides a virtual wiki for
each registered user, complete with access control and versioning. The
backend includes a built-in database (which uses flat files) and
communicates via RMI to either a Servlet (packaged as a WAR file) or to a
Swing client. AgileWiki is also both an application platform and a
knowledge management system.

Changes: This release contains some critical changes. The restrict and
private commands now require admin privilege, typically the owner of the
cabinet. Also, the view command now journals in the session, not in the
current context. The home page of agilewiki.org now includes a guide for
using the view command.

[003] - Apache Ant 1.7.0Beta1 (Development)
by Antoine Levy-Lambert (http://freshmeat.net/users/AntoineLL/)
Sun, Aug 27th 2006 22:38

Software Development :: Build Tools

About: Ant is a Java based build tool, similar to make, but with better
support for the cross platform issues involved with developing Java
applications. Ant is the build tool of choice for all Java projects at
Apache and many other Open Source Java projects.

Changes: A resource framework was introduced. Some of the core ant tasks
such as <copy/> are now able to process not only file system resources but
also zip entries, tar entries, paths, etc. Resource collections group
resources, and can be further combined with operators such as union and
intersection. Optional tasks have begun to be outsourced to Antlibs. The
NET antlib in preparation will replace the .NET optional tasks which ship
in Ant.

by Robert Collins (http://freshmeat.net/users/robertc/)
Sun, Aug 27th 2006 19:15

Software Development :: Version Control

About: Bzr is a simple decentralized revision control system.
Decentralized revision control systems give users the ability to branch
remote repositories to a local context. Users can commit to local branches
without requiring special permission from the branches that they branched
from.

Changes: 'merge' now takes --uncommitted, to apply uncommitted changes
from a tree. Moderate performance improvements, particularly on large
trees. Compatability with diffutils 2.8.4. 'bzr uncommit' preserves
pending merges. Active FTP support has been fixed. TZ=UTC is handled
properly when reading/writing revisions. GPG_TTY is used to allow gpg --cl

[020] - Dual DHCP DNS Server 3.0
by Achal Dhir (http://freshmeat.net/users/achaldhir/)
Sun, Aug 27th 2006 19:08

Internet :: Name Service (DNS)
System :: Networking

About: Dual DHCP DNS Server is a combined DHCP/DNS server for small LANs.
Dynamic DHCP allocates/renews host addresses, while the caching DNS server
first tries resolving from DHCP-allotted names, then from cache, and only
then forwarding to external DNS servers. It has built in dynamic updates,
and also supports BOOTP PXE network booting and client specific options.
It is self-configuring, doesn't require the creation of zone files, and
uses little memory and CPU.

Changes: DNS caching ability has increased from 255 to unlimited. Static
hosts have no limits now; they can be from any domain and can be any
number. Aliases also have no limits. Zone-based DNS query routing
[DNS-ROUTING] has been introduced.

[066] - Raptor RDF Parser Toolkit 1.4.11
by Dave Beckett (http://freshmeat.net/users/dajobe/)
Sun, Aug 27th 2006 04:01

Software Development :: Libraries
Text Processing :: Markup
Text Processing :: Markup :: XML

About: Raptor is a C library providing a set of parsers and serializers
for Resource Description Framework (RDF) triples by parsing syntaxes into
RDF triples and serializing triples into a syntax. The parsers support
RDF/XML, N-Triples, and Turtle and via RSS tag soup: XML RSS, Atom 0.3,
and Atom 1.0. The serializers support RDF/XML (3 flavours), N-Triples, RSS
1.0, and Atom 1.0. Raptor handles RDF/XML as used by RDF applications such
as RSS 1.0, FOAF, DOAP, Dublin Core, and OWL. It can use either expat or
libxml2 for XML parsing, libcurl when available for URI retrieval, and is
portable to many POSIX systems.

Changes: Network request URI filtering was added for parsers. Several
improvements were made to the GRDDL and Guess parsers. The RSS 1.0
serializer was fixed to work again. Many other fixes and minor
improvements were made.

[067] - RSSOwl 1.2.2
by bpasero (http://freshmeat.net/users/bpasero/)
Sun, Aug 27th 2006 12:12

Communications
Information Management
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: News/Diary

About: RSSOwl is a wise SWT-based news aggregator. Its search feature lets
you hunt down the best RSS/RDF/Atom feeds on the Web, and then organize and
share your feeds with agility. Other features include an integrated
browser; AmphetaRate, for acquiring news tailored to your tastes;
full-text searching through headlines and descriptions; export feed
summaries to PDF, RTF, and HTML; the ability to import or export OPML; the
ability to exchange collections with others by importing or exporting
subscriptions; the ability to import or export user data to and from other
machines; automatic newsfeed upating; and much more.

Changes: The integrated feed validator was removed due to lack of support
for RDF and Atom formats. The new validator allows you to enter the URL
of the newsfeed, and will forward to the well-known W3C feed validator
that supports all major formats and namespaces. On Windows, the security
of the embedded browser was improved by making use of the Local Machine
Zone Lockdown, which forces local content to operate in the more secure
Internet Zone. Settings are now backed up and restored in case a previous
shutdown failed to store them correctly. This should fix issues where all
settings were lost.

Changes: Minor bugs were fixed. RSS feeds may now be output as ANSI SQL
data, as bookmarks.html files, as comma-separated values (CSV), or as RSS
feeds (for merging). The -s option was added to strip HTML code from RSS
(or Atom) feeds. The --href=FILE|URL option was added to get all links

[082] - xlit 2.2
by Bill Poser (http://freshmeat.net/users/billposer/)
Sun, Aug 27th 2006 22:38

Text Processing
Text Processing :: Linguistic
Text Processing :: Markup

About: Xlit converts text from one writing system into another. It allows
the user to define a transliteration simply by typing the input strings in
one window and the strings to which they are to be mapped in another.
Transliteration may be restricted to regions bounded by specified
delimiters or their complements. Transliteration may also be performed by
external commands or plugins. Xlit can also convert one type of delimiter
to another, e.g. from HZ escapes to XML. Xlit can read and write
transliteration definitions in its own format and as Yudit keymaps. It can
be run in batch mode without the GUI.

Changes: Plugins are now permitted to write to stderr so as to emit error
messages. A bug was fixed in which xlit attempted to popup an error alert
when running in batch mode without the GUI. The number of parse errors
encountered is now reported.

[083] - XML_PullParser 1.2.2
by Myron Turner (http://freshmeat.net/users/turnermm03/)
Sun, Aug 27th 2006 12:01

Text Processing :: Markup
Text Processing :: Markup :: XML

About: XML_PullParser moves the API of the PHP XML facility from an
event-based model to a token-based model. Instead of processing data as it
is passed from the parser to callbacks, a script using PullParser requests
"tokens" from XML_PullParser_getToken() and a number of helper functions.
Tokens are arrays representing XML structures, which become available in
the order in which they appear in the document being parsed. Methods are
provided both to get tokens and to extract their data.

Changes: This release adds the package level function
XML_PullParser_reInitTagArrays(), which resets several globals to their
initial values. This is an important enhancement for users who run more
than one instance of XML_PullParser during the course of a single script
in loops, etc. It also includes some documentation enhancements.

It takes the URL of a program's interface description and chooses suitable versions of the program and all of its dependencies (also identified by URLs) according to the user's policy settings (eg. "stable", "testing", "minimal network use", etc). The chosen versions are downloaded and cached and the program is run, using environment variables to let it find the components. Changes: A command to copy a download from an untrusted user (checking that the digest is correct) has been added. This also allows sys-admins to add user downloads to the shared cache safely. Non-ASCII characters in interface files are now supported. If no version is available (e.g. because none are cached and you're offline) then it now switches to graphical mode automatically. Many error messages have been improved. It uses annotations to meet the goal of zero external configuration. It includes simple yet powerful solutions to common problems such as indexed properties, multi-event forms, localization, and use of domain objects in the Web tier. All of this is contained in a compact framework with hardly any dependencies. Changes: This release includes major improvements in the following areas: Spring integration, international character set handling, Java 5 generics type information handling, pluggable file upload handling, and fewer dependencies (no more use of OGNL). The release also includes many smaller improvements, new features, and bugfixes. It interoperates with most other IPsec-based VPN products. It is a descendant of the discontinued FreeS/WAN project. The focus of the strongSwan project is on strong authentication mechanisms using X.509 public key certificates and optional secure storage of private keys on smartcards through a standardized PKCS#11 interface. A unique feature is the use of X.509 attribute certificates to implement advanced access control schemes based on group memberships. Changes: Support was added for the ipsec route/unroute commands for IKEv2. This allows IKE_SAs and CHILD_SAs to be set up on demand when traffic to be tunnelled is detected by the kernel. Re-keying for IKE_SAs was added. As specified in the IKEv2 RFC, no re-authentication is done, only new keys are generated using perfect forward secrecy. It supports tsize, blksize, and interval options, supports PXE boot, and can be run standalone or as a daemon. There is a single port version to work across firewalls. Changes: This release adds a file overwrite option and a Listen on option. It has improved error handling. An initial beta of the single port version has been released. It is designed to be a study platform and a run-up to a full read and write (NetBSD) kernel level implementation. It provides a user interface not unlike ftp but differs in that it always fetches or writes files recursively. It supports the basic get, mget, put, mput, mv, rm, mkdir, cd, lcd, free, pwd, and lls command set. Changes: This is a recommended upgrade that fixes some nitty-gritty standards compliance issues and has better recordable/VAT search algorithm parameters. There are no functional changes from the last version, but is is a bit sanitised. It uses only the expat extension functions, which are always available in PHP, so it does not need other external XML processing extensions. The class parses the documents and checks whether the tags and attributes used by the documents are allowed within the XHTML standard. If validation errors are found, highlighted error messages and offending document line numbers will be returned. Changes: Support for literal entities was added. If the UPS devices are running on battery, the shutdown commands are executed for an arbitrary number of remote hosts, optionally with some delay specified for each host. ZUPS can be configured to ignore these delays and run the specified commands immediately if the UPS devices are running out of battery power. Custom plugins can easily be added in order to perform other checks.
