How to Mount Windows Partitions?

I'm running Fedora5 on my machine and  so should i be able to access ntfs from linux
i have created a directory /win

mount -t ntfs /dev/hda1 /win
mount: unknown filesystem type 'ntfs'

i placed ntfs in /etc/filesystems  no change

any other configurations i need? i frequently download things while in windows and want them over here in Linux.
