RE: Tips about setting-up intermezzo...: msg#00020linux.file-systems.intermezzo.general
Well, well, It seems that finally I found the problem out. It was, as Renaud said, an ownership problem. What I did for getting it to work was: 1) chown intermezzo.intermezzo /dev/intermezzo 2) run intersync at both client and server side, correcting the problems as they poped up. - on the server: # intersync /export fails because my apache config and modules. I just edit /var/intermezzo-0/intersync-httpd.conf and correct the Apache modules staff. By default /var/intermezzo-0 is owned by root.root. I change permissions as Renaud indicated: # chown -R intermezzo.intermezzo /var/intermezzo-0 (is this really necessary?? If so, why intersync when generating automatically this files don't change ownerships??) Restar the intersync daemon again, this time successfully: # intersync /export - on the client: # intersync --server=the_other_side_IP /export fails (as on the server) because of my Apache module config. Correct the problem and I fire-up intersync again. Before re-starting intersync, I (just in case) change ownerships to /var/intermezzo-0 to intermezzo user and intermezzo group. Then: # intersync --server=the_other_side_IP /export Fails again. Investigating on the SERVER side it seems that cannot access CGIs on /usr/lib/intermezzo (by default owned by root.root). I do: # chown -R intermezzo.intermezzo /usr/lib/intermezzo on both client and server. I restart intersync at server side. I restart intersync at client side. Finally, it seems to connect successfully and work! I've just copied a couple of files back and forth and seems to work. I just had to run intersync with the "--debug 1" switch and also using "strace intersync" to find out all the problems and errors. Intersync by default simply didn't spit out informational enough messages. Now that I get it to work, I'll test my setup thoroughly during the next days, for testing on stability, reliability and performance. I'll keep you posted on my progress. Just one thought: if intersync is so tricky about ownerships, why the installation process of the intersync package doesn't take care of setting the correct ownerships, at least for /usr/lib/intermezzo?? That way everything should much more easier for everybody, specially first-time tryers as me! :) Thanks to Renaud and Chen for the help! -- Josep Maria Torné Fernàndez jm.torne@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Responsable Departament d'Informàtica i Comunicacions TSI (Tarragona Sistemes Industrials, SL) http://www.infor.tgnsi.com/ ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.
