Actually, cifs mounts ntlmv2 to Windows servers has worked for me
since you released cifs version 1.44 for older kernels (pre 2.6.17)
back in June 2006. Here is a link to the note I sent several months
ago, just after the release of 1.44:
That is good news - but my guess is that some versions of Windows are
more picky about the domain name field in the NTLMSSP response depending
on whether they are part of a domain, the domain controller, or
standalone/workstation - perhaps based on service pack level - but in
any case, I am glad it worked for more servers than I thought.
