You don't have to wait.  You can start with implementing WPA API for the
firmware you have.  If any WPA specific settings are needed, consult the
wl_lkm_718 code.  But if the new RIDs don't work, that's a sign you need
the new firmware.

The driver can include the volatile firmware.  If Agere did it in their
Linux driver, I'm quite sure it's not a feature unique to the Linux
driver.
