I think they are completely unrelated.  For example, Linksys has PCMCIA
ID 0274 (from orinoco_cs.c), PCI IDs 1317, 1637, 1737, 17fe (from
pci.ids) and USB IDs 066b, 077b, 13b1 and 5041 (from usb.ids).

There is a separate "usb" branch in Subversion, but it hasn't been
updated for a long time.
