Hello list,

What firmware versions are known to work in monitor mode? What
versions have problems? Is there a list somewhere? I know 8.1 is known
to be bad

Check Firmware section on http://www.seattlewireless.net/index.cgi/OrinocoDriver
Basically any version <8.10 will work properly

I tried 7.something (pcmcia card) yesterday with 0.15rc2 and it had issues:
iwconf eth1 mode monitor would set the card in monitor mode (green
light on the card goes on).
but after that I could not set the channel. changing the channel would
give error. and dmesg would show message hermes card removed during
command or smth.

I was using 0.13e with monitor mode patch before and recently upgraded
to 0.15rc2. Monitor mode was kinda working with 0.13e + patch (I had
to call card_reset once a while to keep it going even when not
changing channels otherwise it would stop receiving packets).

I can look up the details (exact firmware ver, kernel messages, etc)
later if anyone is interested.
