Re: Robostix issues: msg#00180linux.distributions.gumstix.general
Albert wrote: Has the website that published your robot design recovered from its slashdotting yet? We made it! For those interested: we were posted at 10PM EST and stayed in the front page until 1PM the next day; thereafter we stayed on the "Hardware" page until the next day after that. Most of the slashdot effect occurred prior to 11AM. This is the low-tide period for Slashdot, so our server got somewhere around 60,000-80,000 unique visitors and around 300,000 hits. Had we been posted at, say, 3PM EST, I'd guess we would have been hit by three times that many. As to the robostix: there are some physical design flaws in the first revision, the biggest being the inability to access the MMC slot with a standard-sized MMC card (which is what we have in all our gumstix!) As to the tight fit: this definitely needs to be fixed, but it's easily enough done: Gumstix just needs to widen the board by 2mm on either side of where the gumstix fits in. Last, though Brian didn't mention it, our robostix is significantly bowed. It's not flat. I wonder what's causing that.
