mounting MMC card: msg#00149

Subject: mounting MMC card

Hi,

Just got a new 400 MHz basix waysmall and I have a question
about mounting an MMC card. According to the latest "Getting
Started" (Feb. 7, 2005) on the gumstix wiki site, "The most recent
filesystem automatically mounts the MMC when you boot the device".
This document suggests that it can be mounted as /mmc, however no
such directory exists, although there is /mnt/mmc which shows nothing
in it after booting (there *are* files on the MMC card!). So, I cannot
see that the MMC is actually mounting.

I know the situation re: mounting MMC cards has changed
from time to time depending on the revision of the root filesystem, so
I'm wondering what is really supposed to be happening and how I can
get the MMC card to mount automatically (or even manually).

My basix has u-boot 1.1.2 Feb. 11, 2005. Uname -a gives
"Linux gumstix 2.6.10gum #1 Fri Mar 4 15:03:34 PST 2005 armv5tel
unknown". Comparing to what I see at sourceforge, I guess this is
r374 of u-boot and r412 of the root fiflesystem.

Thanx,

John
