John: As far as I remember, current buildroots have all the networking drivers built as modules, and those modules are needed for nfs rooting. The modularization is needed to support the varieties of gumstix out there (possibilities are no bt, no usb, no wifi), so you will have to build your favorites into your kernel and make sure that the equivalent of a MAC is known at boot time. Make sure you track your linux 2.6.x .config file outside the buildroot so Craig's good work will not undo yours. :) Albert. John D.
