Audiostix Question: Notes on C3 and R6

Question about something mentioned on the Audiostix schematic.
In the 'Notes regarding configuration and expansion headers' it says
The current build has not populated C3 or R6 and is configured only to 
record line-in.

Could someone please clarify, does this mean a resistor and capacitor needs
to be added in order to record with a microphone?
