All, On a much smaller scale, I have been interested in using an optical mouse sensor for odometry. I ran into this article where a mouse was hacked just for the sensor: http://www.kronosrobotics.com/Anotes/Athena%20to%20Optical%20Mouse.pdf It turns out that the sensor uses SPI for communications and almost every controller around can do that. I tried it with the KronosRobotics DIOS chip and it works great. I did not have success getting it to work with the OOPic but that is probably my fault - or maybe not...
