I'm wondering whether it's OK to wait until 1.9.0-1 migrates to testing.
It has currently no reason not to go in besides its age (7 of 10 days
old).

I could provide you with a source package including this fix, if you
wish. (I'll probably tag this bug as pending as soon as it is applied in
git anyway, so you could build it from there.)
