Bug#291412: slapd too old, not linked against OpenSSL: msg#00864linux.debian.devel.openldap
Package: slapd Version: 2.1.30-3 Slapd should be available in a more recent version (2.2.xx), plus it should be linked against OpenSSL, so one could use TLS with self-signed CAs.
