busybox 1.0 pre2 let problem

Hi,

Just compiled the new busybox 1.0 pre2, but are having a problem with let.

on busybox 0.61beta.20030623 (the previous version I was using) you use to
be able to go

let x=1

now this returns 

let: 21: Syntax error: x=1

Ideas?
