dmraid -b and serial numbers: msg#00004linux.ataraid
Hi Heinz, I noticed that using dmraid -b the lba sector capacities match but the serial numbers of the drives do not match other linux drive diagnostic tools. I am using promise controller with pdc metadata, 2 drive raid0. Could you have a look at it? -James hdparm v6.3 using the identify command (-i and -I) and also smartctl version 5.36 shows drive serial numbers: /dev/hde lba sectors = 60058656, serial number = E18A3V2E /dev/hdg lba sectors = 60036480, serial number = YKEYKLP4806 dmraid --version dmraid version: 1.0.0.rc11-pre1 (2006.04.11) dmraid library version: 1.0.0.rc11-pre1 (2006.04.11) device-mapper version: 4.6.0 # dmraid -b /dev/hde: 60058656 total, "1EA8V3E2" /dev/hdg: 60036480 total, "YEKKYPL8460" When using dmraid -b, the serial numbers do not match, the serial number string lengths are correct but the digits are not in the correct order. Drive hde seems to be a simple transposition of the first and second digits etc, but hdg does not. _______________________________________________ Ataraid-list mailing list Ataraid-list@xxxxxxxxxx https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/ataraid-list |
