errors installing demudi

Trying to install DeMuDi... I reboot (after installing
LILO because grub didn't work) and I get errors during
the Debian base configuration, won't let me get out of
that menu.  

I saw a message that not all packages were able to be
installed and try "apt-get install -f", which I did,
then I see:

  the following NEW packages will be installed:
  gsfonts-x11 gv xserver-common (etc etc)

Then for each listed package I see something like the
following:

unpacking xfonts-75dpi
dpkg: error processing
/cdrom/pool/main/x/xfree86/xfonts-75dpi_4.3.0.dfsg.1-4_all.deb
(--unpack):
unable to stat './usr/X11R6/lib/X11' (which I was
about to install): input/output error
dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe)
