capturefromfile codec problem

I developed a video analysis program that compares2 video streams and
analyses in some ways.
After installing a bunch of codecs my proram is capable of opening
most of the avis.
But i found some videos that are compressed with mainconcept dv codec
2.0.4 . that codec is installed in my machine and other video
rendering softwares such as vlc or media player classic can play that
videos. but my program can not...but after converting that avis to new
avis with the same codec my program can open them.
can you help me with this bizzare problem because my program should
definitely open those kind of avis ..
