Problem when using IPP and starting/stopping threads...: msg#00691lib.opencv
Hi All, I recently downloaded the latest Intel IPP and installed it along with the latest CVS OpenCV. The file is w_ipp_ia32_p_5.0.023.exe. The problem is that whenever a thread terminates, it takes somewhere between 1-3 seconds. Debugging shows me that this time appears to be spent in IPP libraries like libguide. When I disable IPP use with cvUseOptimized(0); this problem goes away. In addition to this I am seeing some strange crashing problems that I cannot explain. This could be memory corruption on my part but I have a feeling there is something going on with IPP because this long thread termination is not normal. Has anyone else have experienced this? On another note (probably not related), I just switched to a new computer which uses an Athlon 64 X2 processor. IPP and OpenCV don't say ANYTHING about AMD processor support. However, looking at which libraries get loaded it does look like IPP is loading with SSE2 instruction support. I have heard some horror stories about some Intel tools not supporting certain functionalities under AMD because they are not "genuine" Intel processors and since I cannot find ANY documentation on this, I want to make sure that this should work. Hopefully this is not related to my problem above though.
