The LGPL isn't restricting anyone in any serious regard here.

Very true, but remember the altimate GPL/LGPL unrestriction: Persuing
leagal action against violators is at the maintainer's discretion...

"maintainer" ?

I don't think so.

The "Copyright Holder" is the only person with any legal teeth here. A
typical piece of OpenSourced software has dozens and dozens of copyright
holders - most of whom you don't know from Adam.

so if the inline functions were larger than 10 lines, but were intended to
be includable (not robery) then there is no restriction.

Whilst that might be true in practice, nobody who uses GPL/LGPL'ed software
should ever take that chance. After all, Copyrights are transferrable.
Companies change hands - you have no way to be sure that someone who
hates you won't eventually be able to sue you unless the rules are
followed to the letter.

Creative (who I guess own a lot of the copyrights here) are well known
for their agressive IP lawyers (just talk to anyone from Id!) - I wouldn't
want to take anything on trust - even though I'd trust the individuals
involved implicitly.

But this is all rather academic - we don't want inline stuff in the
public headers - period.
