Running OpenAL at 44100 Hz?

Hi,

I'm hacking away at the OpenAL source code, trying to add a filter to 
ALu.c. One of the things that confused me was the use of the 
interpolator in aluMixData (line 466), until I realised that OpenAL runs 
in software at 22050 Hz. As far as I can see, this isn't mentioned in 
either the Programmer's Guide or the 1.1 Spec. I think that it should.
Is there any reason for using this samplerate (other than efficiency)?

Also, I'd like to work at 44100 Hz.

As far as I can tell, the overall frequency is set at line 1385 of 
ALc.c. It's also returned by
alcGetIntegerv(...) at line 974.

Are these the only values that I need to change to run at 44100 Hz?
