Alternatively, you could try the driver below. It uses the native Mac 
OS X USB APIs instead of libUSB.

You can install the .pkg files and then do a similar edition of the 
Info.plist to try with your reader (as explained on the page). You can 
quit the installer without rebooting since you know how to restart 
pcscd manually.

If it works and if you send me ProductId+VendorId of this reader, I'll 
generate a .pkg for it.
