When you've read all this and implemented at least some of it, then (or
during) start experimenting with Luma. Not before. For questions, read
the openldap list archives and faq. They are chock-a-block full of
answers to _all_ of the problems that new LDAP users encounter. Don't
expect to have everything working in a day. Don't expect to have read
(much less understand) everything even after a month of dedicated study.
What you're asking here is for someone to teach you the subject of
partial differential equations before you've learned addition and
subtraction. LDAP by itself is not a trivial subject (IMO). However,
once one does have a good understanding of LDAP, Luma does make it much,
MUCH easier. For an experienced LDAP user, the statement, "LDAP made
easy" is indeed true, but nothing (that I know of---perhaps Active
Directory?) will make LDAP easy for someone who knows nothing about it.
It does require some study, but it's definitely worth the time
investment.
