No, but it might not be about that. It might be about discouraging

Possible violation of GPL with Sarotech NAS product
The product from Sarotech : NHD-355 based on a Marvell SOC MV-88E6318 ( Mips
5Kc Core with Ethernet Switch) use a e-Linux based on a MontaVista
ditribution
This board is not supported by Marvell but the e-linux is powered by Marvell
( cat from version file )
MontaVista Linux Pro 3.0 for MV-88E6318 (Firehawk)
RDK Alpha Release, version 0.2.5
Marvell, 4 Sep 2003
The kernel and some part are tuned by Sarotech ( cat of boot log )
#############################################
SAROTECH kernel revision : 2.0.0 2005/06/27
#############################################
Scripts and somes sources are modified or tuned by someone with this pseudo
: HJCHOI
On the english site from Sarotech I don't found GPL sources (
www.sarotech.com)
On the korean site of sarotech (www.u-stor.net) i find some informations
about sources and linux but in korean and the translation with google is
poor.
the text in korean can be found on www.u-stor.net in menu FAQ then the last
at right and first post with some english word like NHD-355 / OS / zend
optimizer / mips cpu / binary
the most interessant part seem to be the last. But without a korean
conversion better than google it's impossible to understand.
conversion from google
The customer buys a linux source consequently at the Internet and [khem] the
file printed style of writing it must use the execution file which comes out
and is not easy is not. Being possible when is a program developer who knows
which degree linux put on only, it from description below hazard the
development does tool chest is necessary. The development tool chest opening
to the public knows from is not a possibility of opening to the public. Also
there is not a water service where the user will establish the linux of
separate way.
Thank for your help/informations and happy new year

Yeah, but how many people want the *source* of an obscure firmware?

IAAL.
But seems it's not a legal problem, but a practical one. As I say
before, since there's a way to "bypass" it, ok.
